Asavar
Dense temperate forest/region
Between the Little Hills and White Hills lies the region of Asavar. Once the heartland of the kingdom of Asavar, this fertile region is well known and well travelled by gnomes, elves, and humans. The rich black soil grows trees as well as it once grew grain, with mighty oaks and elms forming a thick canopy overhead that slows undergrowth and creates broad avenues for travel.
Asavar was the last realm lost, and its decline, initiated by plague and the assault upon Sieriven, was completed by the seduction of several gnomish clans by the hag goddess Kajalla. Goblins and hobgoblins are relatively uncommon (though not so their large cousins, bugbears), but the descendants of Kajalla’s pawns threaten good-aligned folk here. Banekin infest nearly every dungeon in the region, spriggan and fhmor tribes build crude strongholds with underground warrens, and bu’airn stalk unwary travellers. Other monsters are also frequently encountered here, even more frequently than in the further depths of the Shadowend, as though they are drawn to form a monstrous barrier against human resettlement of the Woodmarches.
