Hielarn was the first civilization to arise in the current age, after the arrival of the dan'si. Centered in the vast and fertile plains in northern portion of the continent, Hielarn at it's height stretched from the western ocean to the eves of the Shadowend Forest, and from the Kamuerhorns in the north to the far south. Power eventually brought arrogance, however, and the Hielarn rulers attacked the dan'si in an attempt to wrest the fey's magical power. In retaliation, the dan'si split open the crust of the Wyrld, instantly destroying Hielarn and creating the Torcell Seldoc, aka the Sundered Sea.

The surviving Hielites eventually founded a number of other countries over the centuries, including Zamara, Murune, and Nekkarn. Nekkarn was the last of these, and its fall marked the end of the Hielite race.
