House Rules

·A natural "1" on an attack roll is NOT a fumble.

·There will be some kind of "training time" to gain levels, but no required teacher or mentor.

·No favored classes or favored class rule.

Here is a quick list of variant rules we will be using: weapon group feats; players roll all the dice; and the extra spell slots metamagic variant.

Possible Variant Rules

Someday I'd like to use: taint; and damage conversion or reserve points, possibly modified (reserve points convert faster with heavier armor).

Death and Dying

Dying occurs from -1 to -(your Con score). You are dead at (-Con-1). If your Con is 18, you are dying from -1 to -18, and dead at -19. If your Con score is 7, you are dying from -1 to -7, and dead at -8.

If you reach -10 or lower, and survive, you gain a negative level. This level lasts for 1 day + 1 per point you fell below -10. 2 days if -11, 3 days if -12, and so on. At the beginning of each day you may make a Con check (DC 20) to remove one day from that duration. If you have had complete bed rest the previous day, the DC drops to 15. You may continue making Con checks until you fail, or you remove all the remaining days from the duration, at which point the negative level goes away. The negative level may not be removed by restoration or lesser restoration magics. It may be removed by heal or greater restoration. It does not stack with itself in any fashion, or with negative levels gained from energy drain for purposes of permanently dying, being turned into an undead, or something else icky, but the penalties stack.

If the character's full hp are 5 or less, and the hp penalty from the negative level would place them at 0 hp or lower, they are considered to be at 0 hp and staggered (not disabled). They can take a move action or a standard action each round, (but not both, nor can they take a full round action), and move at half speed.

So if your Con is 10 or greater, you might fall below -10 hp and recover, but you'll have a negative level for a day or two. If your Con is less than 10, you'll die sooner and won't ever have to worry about the negative level.
