Description

Huac-paah is a typical, green-skinned, black haired troldfolk with large, dirty feet and big, knobby hands. He is very charismatic, at least for a bridge troll. Still, few people truly take him seriously.

Huac-paah hates humans, and will go out of his way to cause them trouble - provided of course, Khai-lin doesn't find out.

Background

Huac-paah grew up in a small troldfolk community just south of Shalanholt along the Greenflow where a series of tiny streams flow into the river. He was raised by Shuck, a somewhat intelligent troll who amused Huac-paah by telling him stories, usually of questionable veracity, of the gods and the history of the Shadowend.

Over the course of his dialogues with Shuck, Huac-paah earned an appreciation for the troldfolk god, Rumbletrogskil, the Great Thunker. Later in life, he sought out the necessary sources to pursue a life as a Rumblepriest, a supplicant to the Squisher of Giants.

In his youth – long before his foray into priesthood – Huac-paah frequently annoyed the humans in settlements around Shalanholt, stealing their belongings to add to his rapidly growing collection of shiny objects.

When his collection of “glimmerglammer”was discovered by humans digging holes along the riverbank, Huac-paah became angry and cursed at the group, attempting to run them off of his “property.”

Narrowly escaping the angry mob, he quickly gained an appreciation for – and hatred of – humans and their kin. Having had no relations with other species, he decided that humans were the most vile, evil creatures alive.

Huac-paah set out to make life miserable for humans, becoming a Rumblepriest, at first for the purpose of learning new and interesting ways to transmute humans into other things, though his misfortune in meeting a human Priest of Catil – who possessed a relatively high Will save – resulted in his being affected by a quest spell, causing him to follow – and serve – a specific human being, namely Khai-Lin of the Forge.

Attempting to disobey the quest, Huac-paah tried to leave the service of his new “master,” but after a few days, he returned, close to death and unable to bring himself to disobey again.

He has served Khai-Lin since that time, more out of fear of reprisal from the quest spell than in obedience, though he still secretly looks for ways around the quest, often taking his orders a bit too literally. He has, however, developed a grudging respect for Khai-Lin, though he would never, ever admit it.

Geas/Quest: Each day that the nature of the quest is not followed, the subject takes 3d6 points of damage and must save (Fort DC 19) or be sickened for 24 hours.
