Illendia
Once a prosperous and powerful elven kingdom, the seeds of Illendia's fall were laid with its unremitting opposition to the human realm of Nekkarn. Illendia was an alliance between the civilized and wild faerilven, and one in which the xenophobic nature of the wild elves combined with the worst human hatred in the cultured elves, who had been driven from the kingdom of Tamerelli by an invasion of humans.
Some of the faerilven of the Shadowend remember Illendia, and a few seek to restore the fallen kingdom. More, however, no longer desire to raise a new kingdom in the forest's heart.
The Sunrising Dales region of the Shadowend, including the lost lands of Asavar, Sieriven, and Shalanholt, hold a great number of ruins from Illendia. While many of these are nothing more than foundation stones and shallow wells, others still hold lost magics and golden treasures from the hands of elven craftsmen. Known ruins include the Knighting Well, the Hall of Roses (the remains of a bardic college, and filled with riddles, tricks, and traps designed by the elves to test an aspirant's knowledge of lore and legend), the Dungeon of Stones, and the Well of Swords (the former stronghold of a powerful mage-smith, who may have survived into undeath -- survivors report a staggering number of mechanical and magical traps, all in good repair. They also recovered a number of powerful and previously unknown magical items, enough to convince them to return to the dungeon. They have not been heard from since.) The Glimmerspire, Snowhawk’s Tower, Spiderspire, and Trailwatch Tower are all remnants of Illendia’s ancient border fortifications.
