Orod

(Lord of Souls, Keeper of the Dead, Walker on the Edge of Life)

Lawful Neutral Greater Power of the Elder Host

Major AoC: The Dead, Law, Souls

Minor AoC: Rules, Adherance to Authority, Embalmers

Symbol: A severed hand, a skeletal raven, a black throne

Allies: Ados, Kalia, Merain, Nemain

Enemies: Darghin, Eothor, Fellowship of the Unholy Hand

Avatar: Cleric 20 / Fighter 10 / Wizard 10

Orod appears as a ten-foot tall man with a grim expression, grey skin and hair, and only a stump for a right hand. He carries a staff of bone called Solbein, or One Bone, which he can transform into a sword, scythe, axe, or spear at his pleasure. He suffers no penalty to any action because of his one-handedness.

Orod is one of the Elder Host, and places himself as Aela's opposite in the circle of life. He keeps and protects the souls of the dead, and ensures that each soul has the time allotted to it in the World. His greatest enmity is reserved for Darghin, the Lord of Darkness, who was responsible for the loss of Orod's hand and seeks any opportunity to undermine the Lord of Souls. Orod likewise opposes Eothor, who covets his position and corrupts the souls of the dead.

Orod is not an involved deity, but is worshipped or appeased by nearly everyone. He is particularly favored by those who work with the dead, necromancers who seek to correspond with the dead without granting them unlife, and lawmakers. It is believed that to bury a body without the blessings of a priest of Orod invites the corpse to rise as an undead.

Orod's priests are dour, unsmiling folk who go about their duties with methodical efficiency and rigid determination.
