Sieriven
Medium temperate forest/region
A rich valley between the Fhmor Hills and the High Hills, Sieriven was a land of bards, melodies, and subtle enchantments. The faerilven were strong allies with the Sierivenal, and the mingling of the two cultures produced a society of magic unlike any known now. Groves and meadows throughout Sieriven still bear quiet magics from centuries ago, and the great meadow west of Lin Nier is one of the strongest bastions of the good fey in the Shadowend.
Sieriven’s fall was brought about by the infiltration of shapechangers, including dopplegangers, who hoped to take control of Sieriven and use it as a base to conquer the rest of the Woodmarches. The shapechangers’ plans were exposed, however, and in desperation they drew up allies from the Dark Below to assault the human kingdom. The bloody battles that took place night after night were breeding grounds for madness and disease, and darker powers than the dopplegangers took an interest, with one inevitable end.
Today, most signs of the brutal warfare have disappeared. Rusted swords and empty helms still protrude from the ground in a few cursed vales and fields, but by and large the region has fallen into a stalemate. The fey that lived in Sieriven have control of the western half, while the dopplegangers and their allies hold the forest and ruins in the east. The shapechangers have reached out to the fhmor in an effort to strike an alliance and attack the fey from two sides, but the fhmor don’t trust the dopplegangers any more than any else, and deal with them only when they have no choice.
